Seeds for Fargo, Public art project commissioned by the city of Fargo, 2022

This large-scale public art project showcases Fargo’s history, vibrancy, and potential through a series of twelve panels distributed across three walls, each wall representing Fargo’s past, present, or future. The colorful illustrations included in the panels focus on themes of growth, food systems, sustainability, and exchange. Images and geometric shapes flow from section to section, which creates a sense of unity and denotes the passage of time. While this work has been digitally crafted and printed as vinyl wraps, its drawing style is inspired by the types of marks seen in woodcuts and other forms of traditional printmaking.

It is my hope that all viewers can find something to love in these collaged images, whether that’s wildlife, historic architecture, delicious local foods, or simply the colors and compositions themselves. From there, the artwork might inspire a sense of reverence and care for the many natural resources that have allowed Fargo to prosper. I would like extend my gratitude to the City of Fargo and the Fargo Art & Culture Commission for selecting this proposal and bringing the project to life.
