Flower Arrangements (Collages)

Expanding upon my floral-themed work from the past two years, this vivid new series involved the multi-step process of creating an array of printed images solely for the purpose of cutting them up and rearranging them as collages separate from their original compositions. The project began by purchasing individual stems of flowers from a nearby flower shop, then arranging them in mason jars and other glass containers at home. I then made drawings of these impromptu bouquets, focusing on their light, shadow, and textures, and printed them through waterless lithography, with color from layers of screenprinting. Other images in this body of work include bulkier letterforms that contrast more delicate shapes. Once printing was complete, I cut apart the images and pasted them back together in process that felt equally categorical and playful.
